May is a nice time to visit Disneyland usually crowdwise, but there are some dates you may want to avoid The event includes admission to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during regular operating hours, and a private party in Disneyland after the park closes to the public for the night.
Most of May is considered the "Off Season" so hours are usually 10am till 8pm M-thurs the two parks usually have different opening and closing hours.
And 8am till 12pm Fri-Sun. And if you have not been to Disneyland in that long perhaps you didnt even get to see California Adventure Park before it opened. Good advice when visiting the two parks is to arrive at Disneyland Park right when it opens, as there is less wait times on most attractions for that first few hours after opening time, and you can pick up a Fastpass for a busier ride to use later in the day rides that have fastpasses and alot of the Fantasyland rides usually have the longest lines.
Then when it gets busy at Disneyland Park, you can hop over to California Adventure park which is usually less busy for a while.

And here is more info on the World of Color show viewing options at California Adventure Park since you would need to get a special Fastpass to get into the viewing area for the show. If you miss any signatures, pick up a small autograph book, available anywhere in the Park.
