After a little while Abbie, Louise and Eszter soon become settled with their new lives.
New friendships for the women are being made bringing much hope for the future but life has a way of throwing stumbling blocks in their paths. Will all the good that the women have built in the little town soon be a forgotten memory? Kindness doesn't cost anything. There is a definite cosy, feel-good feel to this novel and it is the perfect summer holiday read.
I have worked in an Infant and Secondary School and I can totally see the concept of the spreading and paying back of kindness working with children. Kindness is not age related and has no barriers, the inspiration from Victoria Walters novel could prove a very useful tool in schools building morale, ownership of actions and a sense of togetherness. The main stories are based around three female characters - Abbie, her sister Louise and Hungarian Eszter. Abbie needs to turn her life around after being made redundant, Louise is struggling to move on from her broken engagement two years ago which has left her with no trust or self confidence and newly widowed Eszter is acting on her late husbands wishes to visit his childhood home and build the bridges he burnt.
All three women have strong stories and the recurring theme of kindness makes for a very positive book which offers pause for thought, this is a good book which offers a nice relaxing read. The local cafe , Brew will throw much needed lifelines to all three women. On being introduced to The Kindness Board they see people have written down the random acts of kindness people have been shown. Most importantly they vow to pass the kindnesses on. My review will be live on donnasbookblog on 19th June as part of the blog tour! I enjoyed this story and I thought that the characters were really well developed. I liked that the storyline was told about three main characters and I thought that they all gelled well together.

I enjoyed the author's writing style and descriptive nature was good, I did think at times that the pace of the book was a little slow, particularly towards the middle of the book and possibly some of the details could have been cut out to make it a more punchy read but it picked up again at the end and I really enjoyed how the stories of the different characters came together.

Jul 06, Sally-ann rated it it was amazing Shelves: fiction. I struggle with fiction generally and I have the attention span of a gnat, so I always judge a fiction book by how long it takes me to read it. My usual genre is psychological thrillers but this caught my eye whilst browsing my local bookstore and decided to give it a go, and I'm so glad that I did.
It's a delightful summer read with a real good factor about it. This book is adorable, happiness in book form. A story of friendship, bravery, kindness and the family you create. Thoroughly recommended read. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion. Was a lovely read! A book of loveliness, enjoyed it immensely!
Fabulous Read Great to see a community being kind to each other, how all communities should be. Dec 21, Kirsty rated it really liked it Shelves: uk-author. An enjoyable and easy to read book about a cafe set in the grounds of an old house witch has been converted into a hotel.
Similar to many books of its time its about people who frequent a local cafe, how their lives become intertwined and romance in some cases develop, in others family relationships are mended. Easy to read with likeable characters, lovely to read. View 1 comment.
