The main character is easy for many young boys to identify with as he finds schoolwork a bit dull but loves being outisde. I would give a little warning One person found this helpful. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes football. This is a must get book. My football mad 7 year old son loves the Jamie Johnson books so we bought this as a birthday present for his friend. Needless to say, his friend loved it too. They are great books, good story lines and well written, I've enjoyed reading them too!
Purchased this for my grandson. He just loves these books and reads in a couple of days. Will need to buy the rest of the series.

I loved this book because it was about football. Its about a boy called Jamie who is 11 and wants to get into his school team. He has a best friend called Jack and other friends called Ollie and Tesh.
It is a good story and teaches you about football. I enjoyed reading it and can't wait to start the next one. My son 10 y.
He is a good reader so he whipped through them quickly. April 5, - Published on Amazon. Not a very clean copy. Page turner! November 10, - Published on Amazon. My 9 yo loved it! October 18, - Published on Amazon. Very good series 6 volumes about a boy turning teenager then young adult and pursuing a dream of playing professional soccer in England. Well written by a sports journalist who obviously knows both technical and "political" aspects of professional football.
Interesting themes about perseverance despite serious setbacks, prioritizing between career, school, friends, etc. Only minor fault: seems to me that writing level is for yr old, while themes are somewhat for more mature y teenagers. Might be deal for y old soccer kids with reading issues or hostility to reading.
